Pledge Drive Conclusion

It’s been a long road since January 23rd, though my journey started many years ago. As someone who has struggled with my weight for so long, losing it all isn’t something that’s going to happen overnight, or even in a few months time. I have, however, made good progress in the last few months, and I owe that to the many of you who have supported me in my efforts. I will never regret going through with my plans for Healthy Giving. The hard work and frustration are more than worth it for the results they provide, both physically for me and monetarily for one of my favorite charities.

In total since January 23rd, I have lost 18 pounds. Comparatively, I have lost an amazing 29 pounds since Christmas when the idea for Healthy Giving was born. Over the course of the drive, I have received 13 pledges totally $34.50 per pound. That’s absolutely amazing! It’s more than I could have hoped for, really. The total raised in pledges alone is $621!! In addition to pledges, I received $94 in one-time donations from four amazing people!

I want to thank each and every person who pledged or donated to this drive, as well as those who were not able to donate, but provided me with much needed motivation and kind words when I needed them. You guys are the ones who made this drive possible and the success it has become. I wouldn’t have been able to do this alone, without your support and help in spreading the word. Together, we’ve accomplished something great! The $715 we’ve raised with Healthy Giving will be used to purchase books to be enjoyed by kids who might not have had the chance to enjoy quality books before.

It truly is amazing to see the results of the donations that KNTR gives. To read more about some of these donations, check out Donation Stories at the KNTR website.

I want to also take the time to thank the Austin Browncoats for sponsoring my pledge drive. I am very grateful for their sponsorship and continuing support of my efforts as well as those of The Kids Need to Read Foundation.

I will be contacting everyone who made a pledge regarding their final contributions.  For all who made a pledge or donation, once the funds are received by KNTR, you will be entered into the prize drawing.  I will be holding the drawing in 30 days from today on Monday, June 22, 2009.  Available prizes are located here.

As always, if you have any questions about the drive or it’s conclusion, write to me at pledges@healthygiving.org.

Healthy Giving HIKRZ

Healthy Giving has joined the KNTR HIKRZ with a team of our own! The Healthy Giving HIKRZ team, comprised of Sean, Kazia, and Hannah Hodges, will hit the trails starting on April 26th. Our Spring Pledge Drive will last until June 30th. We’ll be exploring our new home of Oregon and hiking a variety of locations.

Our first hike will be at Multnomah Falls in the Columbia River Gorge.  We actually visited the falls this past weekend with family who were in town visiting, and decided that the falls would be our first official HIKRZ hike.

Please visit the KNTR HIKRZ webpage for more information about this great fundraising effort.  You can pledge to existing teams or form a team in your own neck of the woods!

Missing Photos

I got a bit lax in my routine last Friday and forgot to take check-in photos. Oops! Sorry! Hopefully that will be the only check-in that I forget to do that.

That was a very busy day and it just slipped my mind!

Longview News-Journal Article Scans

Here are those scans I promised to post from the Longview News-Journal article.  The second image was the correction that had to be made two days later because they forgot to print the website address in the initial article.

Still, it was pretty exciting to be included in the newspaper!
